After meeting at the airport at 4:30 a.m. (which is 3:30 a.m. in Guatemala), we have had a long, but good day. Flights were on time, all of our luggage arrived, and the Guatemalan customs agents didn't even give us a hard time for the things in our luggage like electrical boxes and nails.
Our team enjoyed getting to meet the kids of New Life Children's Home, and Kara and I loved getting to see so many familiar faces that we love dearly and introduce our son, Ethan, to them. After our drive back from the airport, we arrived at NLCH about 1:00- just in time for lunch. We had one of the specialties here- a mixture of ground beef, carrots, and green beans, with rice, tortillas, and either watermelon or papaya. During our orientation, it began to rain and continued for most of the afternoon. So we enjoyed a day of getting settled in and allowing the team to acquaint themselves with the people and facilities.
For dinner we had black beans with bread and coffee. Normally we'll have some time following dinner to play with the kids, but we're all pretty tired tonight, so we're headed to get some rest before attending church with the kids in the morning at Fraternidad Cristiana de Guatemala.
We are so glad that you all made it safely (with your luggage!) We are praying that you will have a special week. Love you, Mom. Te amo, Dad.
